Founding
The company was founded in 1899 as a waxworks. Richard Wenzel took over responsibility in 1938. Daughter Rosemarie and Rudolf Jaksch then expanded the company further from 1972 onwards.
Safe Candle®
Our self-extinguishing and patented Safe Candle® is available in various diameters and lengths. This innovative system extinguishes itself after burning.
Employees
Today we employ a total of 190 people at our three locations in Aschaffenburg. Due to our turnover, which has grown continuously since our foundation in 1899, we are one of the leading candle manufacturers.
Business areas
Almost a quarter of the candles go to florists and wholesalers. Other customers are churches, garden centers, processors and other customers.

AND FLEXIBILITY
The name WENZEL has been synonymous with innovation and the highest quality standards for candles for many generations. Since our company was founded in 1899, we have developed well over 1,000 different candle designs that delight our customers all over the world. All of our candles are 100% RAL quality and manufactured exclusively in Aschaffenburg, Germany.
Our export quota, which is now over 35%, is a testament to the popularity of our products. By comparison, in the 1980s the proportion of candles exported was around 2%.
Our current production area covers around 10,000 square meters, which is spread across 3 plants. In order to always work on an order-related basis and thus be able to respond optimally to individual customer requirements, our in-house high-bay warehouses have a capacity of 8,000 Euro pallets.
The high quality of Wenzel candles was confirmed by Stiftung Warentest in November 2016. The Safe Candle® tested was rated “very good” and emerged as the test winner in terms of burning quality.
The Wenzel Safe Candle® is a new type of pillar and ball candle that extinguishes itself when it has burned down. These candles have a special wick holder that prevents the wax from flowing further to the wick and smothering the flame. This system is innovative, patented, DEKRA tested and 100% Made in Germany! The wick holder ensures that the wick cannot fall over and is safely extinguished after burning down. In addition, the wick holder does not transfer any heat downwards!
